Friend,

At the end of last week, Governor Baker approved the Fiscal Year 2021 Budget that includes provisions to support children and youth with behavioral health needs:

  • Seed funding to begin the process of planning for a statewide school behavioral health technical assistance center, which will allow the Commonwealth to better support behavioral health needs arising from the impact of COVID-19;
  • $950,000 to maintain the Mental Health Advocacy Program for Kids in the FRCs, currently serving 7 counties with support from a dedicated intake worker and paralegal and expand the program to all counties not currently served;
  • Level funding for Return to School "Bridge" Programs, ensuring that youth who have been out of school for psychiatric or other hospitalizations can successfully transition back to school.

We are grateful to the legislature for putting together a budget that supports children's behavioral health and the governor for approving this budget without vetoes to these crucial programs.

We are also incredibly thankful for your advocacy on behalf of children and youth in Massachusetts. Your voice made a huge difference, and we can't wait to work together again in the new session!

Wishing you a happy and safe holiday season,

The Children's Mental Health Campaign
